House Bill Would Redirect IRS Funds to Border Patrol

Bill’s sponsor says failure to secure the border is a disaster.

Representative Claudia Tenney of New York introduced legislation Wednesday that would redirect funds intended for the Internal Revenue Service to U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The bill would rescind all of the unobligated funds under the Inflation Reduction Act, signed in July, for new IRS enforcement activities. The funds would be reappropriated to the CBP to hire additional agents to secure the southern border as the crisis there worsens.

Representative Tenney stated, prior to introducing the legislation, that the policies of the president’s administration have “created an unmitigated disaster at our Southern Border that is impacting communities across the country.“ She said that the president and legislators in the majority “are ignoring the problem and instead giving tens of billions of dollars to the IRS so that they can audit an additional 700,000 working-class Americans,”

“Americans don’t want more IRS agents, they want a secure border and safer streets. The DIRECT Funds for Border Security Act will deliver just that by investing in law enforcement,” the congresswoman added.

As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…

  • For Congresswoman Tenney and others in the House seeking to secure the nation’s southern border.
  • For Commissioner Magnus as he oversees U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
  • For the U.S. Border Patrol officers and agents in the field endeavoring to prevent harmful substances and people from entering the country.
